"Mum, I am having a really good time"

Sometimes I worry that my girl is not doing enough. Silly I know but we are all mothers and worry unnecessarily. Most kids Katie's age are at kindergarten/preschool three hours a day four days a week at this stage. Katie does all her hours at creche on a Monday and remains with me for the rest of the week. I thought about doing more for her out of the house, but quite frankly, I am reveling in spending "our" time together. I am being selfish and keeping her all to myself. I have come to the conclusion that this last year before school is one of the best. I remember it to be so with Hugh. He was my little buddy and when he started school I cried for a week I missed him so much. This year with Katie is just wonderful. After her Monday interaction, we have the week planned out. Take today as an example, we have cut and paste, baked brownies, played Barbies, been to storytime at the library, painted her nails and now she is sitting watching Peter Pan. She listened to it on CD in bed last night and I read it to her today. It was great to find the DVD today so she could watch it.

I tell you, that Barbie house was in disarray for days and days. As soon as I tidy it up, she is at it. Last night she asked me to play with her today. She looked forward to it so! And even while we played in her room - I was the official hairdresser combing out all their knots - she says, "Mum, I am having a really good time".

Makes it all worthwhile doesn't it.

Be selfish and keep her all to yourself while you can :)

The way I see it, so many Mom's are too eager to ship their kids out the door to daycare, school, or anything else. You are a great Mom who wants to spend time with your daughter. There can't be anything wrong with that!

Ok, first of all, I really want one of those brownies!!!! Heeeeee!!

And I think that is so sweet how you two are enjoying your time together. Just reading how much you do with her during the day makes me feel like I should be doing more with my kids. Hence my main reason for taking a break!

Thanks for sharing these special moments with us, always brightens my day!

I think you are doing just fine. It won't be long before she is out the door every day doing her own thing! She's just such a doll and really is looking like such a big girl!!

You are a fantastic mother and I bet you that you will always have a special bond with your children just for beeing there for them when they grew up!! Enjoy this time!!! Love the Barbies ;)
