My boy ....

When I was 19 weeks pregnant with Hugh having a scan they picked up something was wrong with his kidneys. UTI - urinary tract infections. From the day he was born for the first three years of his life he was on daily antibiotics. There were a couple of infections along the way - scary stuff. At three years they decided to operate. Since then - touch wood - things have been fine. But some damage was already done - kidney scarring and stretched urethea's. A life time of watching and being careful. Annually we go to have checks and tests. Today was that day. To keep things in perspective, this is not huge. But to us it is always there. Today he was great. We spent almost three hours in various waiting rooms - me, two kids and a book each. Gosh they were good....made me proud. Squeezed in McDonalds along the way as a "thank you". Test results back in two weeks. But as we finished off the day with Hugh filling five vials of blood, yup! My boy deserved his bravery award.

Atta Boy!! After I basically went through what Hugh went through with kidney infections one after the other and surgeries too when I was 4,5,and 6...He definitely deserves this...I hated the needles...just hated it!! Fantastic job Hugh and I feel your pain and anguish!!

Hugh is indeed a brave little guy!! 3 years of antibiotics... wow! That's the kind of experience that slowly give mother's gray hair. And all of you waiting with your book... such a cute mind picture.

Hugh!! Poor guy! I can relate Helen. It's almost harder on us, because we know what they have to look forward to, and they can't really see past the day. So I feel for you guys. It's so hard watching them. Well, I will be thinking of you. and Good on you, Hugh!!!!!
Brave and strong and the better for it!!! but it's still heart breaking, no matter how small!!
