The Quaterly Instalment of "Shoes...they just don't make them like they used to"

What would school holidays be without my big whinge about the state of Hugh's shoes. Some of you may recall last holidays when the runners "died" in three weeks of being purchased and I opted for the "big bloomin' boots". Well I am happy to report that they are doing well. They have stood the tough test of a school term and thanks to Dad's weekly polishing, look half decent. We will ignore the fact that by 9:01am Monday mornings the toe scuffs are there and the toes remain a lovely shade of light grey until Den polishes them once again.
However (there is always a "clause/but" is there not?) the same cannot be said for his runners/joggers/trainers. Let's just remember these runners have NOT been worn to school. The occasional wear on weekends is all they can claim. But LOOK! JUST LOOK! What happened Hugh? @#%#@
So once again we have before and after shots. Here are the newly purchased runners from our shopping trip yesterday. Take a good look old pair....that will be you in a few weeks.A change in the weather means all the summer shoes come out and Imelda Marcos .. oh! I mean Katie Hancock's toes were hanging over the ends. *sigh*. So while on my great shoe hunt yesterday we found this little number! Yikes! I am not sure who was more excited - Katie or me? Have I mentioned how much I love having a daughter and reliving my childhood all over again through her?
But today, whilst I dropping her off to creche, I discovered an interesting fact. Katie scored big yesterday - dance outfit, scooter and new shoes and she spent her pocket money on a new necklace and matching bracelet. We walk into creche this morning and two little girls rush up and take each of her hands - all dressed in short skirts with lacy leg-ins underneath (had they secretly called and planned this???) and the teacher exclaimed "you too Katie!" No, this was not in reference to the similar outfits but the matching jewellery!!! ALL THE SAME.....colourful beads with a big pink heart attached to both necklace and bracelet. Holy guacolme!!! They are three!! What is freaking me out more??? Their innate sense of fashion? Their telepathic communication? Their same favourite stores? Or that this is just a taste ..... just a small window into the terror of teenage years that await me. I am scared.

Hahahaha...just you wait! She's only three...you've got at least 15 more years of this...oh heck make that 25!
Boys need to learn to wear shoes like the girls...cute little flip-flops that don't have closed toes to come through in only three weeks!
Love your blog!

Oh yeah!! Girls are telepathic, and one can't have without the others running out to get it too.

Apparently they do it as young Katie too.

LOLing

...this will soon be you.

Hugh's shoes didn't really shock me though. I think they do it just to see the look on our face....

This post is so funny! I can totally identify, except I'm outfitting Rosie for cool weather now!!! Yikes....

Love the shoe pictures, old and new! I guess it's a sign that you are an active family. A couch potato would have nice and shiny shoes!

Can you just believe those girls....?? Wow, oh, Wowee...it starts early!!

Thank you for perking up my morning and giving me a chuckle!! Love the shoes and I can, oh so, identify! Only with James, these days he's harder on the knees of his pants than on his shoes (but the shoes are a close second!) I hate his walking around looking like a "rag-a-muffin" but what's a Mom/Mum to do? You can't replace their clothing as fast as they "distroy" it!!

As for Katie, I'm amazed that it starts so young!! But the three of them must have looked too darned cute. And Mum had no camera to document the moment!??? I'm truly surprised by that if that were the case!! (I thought your camera was permanently afixed to your body!!) Hugs....
