The sounds of silence on a Tuesday morning!

Finally the day had arrived. Katie was off to 3 yo kinder. Now this is not kindergarten as in other parts of the world. We have 3yo kinder of one morning a week; 4yo kinder of approximately ten hours a week; and then first year of school at age five which we call prep. Unlike her brother who in his day would be all teary eyed, my munchkin was packed and raring to go. Now I am at home .... what is that sound??? ..... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!!! BRILLIANT!!!!!

Seriously though, it is rather sad....my babies are growing up and my heart feels a little heavy on this overcast Tuesday morning. Time for a cuppa!

Wow, I have those mornings about once a week, if I'm lucky. Caroline's in school three days--and in Mother's Day Out on one day.

But, I work three of those four days. That fourth day, when I have the house to myself. .. I love it!!

I can't believe how grown-up Katie looks with her little name tag. And mummy hung around and took pictures or did you actually go home?

Oh, you poor thing. I remember how hard it was to have to say goodbye, even for just a short time. It does make it easier when there are no tears and sadness.

I really love the idea of gradually introducing them to school though, when they all of a sudden have to go all day or half the day, it can be kind of scary for some kids.

Enjoy the silence, it usually doesn't last long. At least in my house it doesn't. LOL

Wow. Empty nest syndrome!
Here we have "nursery school" for the 3YOs, but it's optional.

Carter is in "Junior Kindergarten"...about 10 hours a week.

Next year he'll be in "Senior Kindergarten". They have some sort of graduation and then he'll be in Grade 1. I'm sure that will happen in what will seem like minutes!

Enjoy the silence!
