Scary stuff!

It was a stinking hot day today! Again! We went out for my Mum's birthday and thought that would be eventful enough but NO!! Driving home it was 47C according to Den's car! It was hot like last week but it was the strong winds today that caused the concern. I went to put some washing out, I smelt the air and looked into the sky - uh oh! I raced upstairs. These shots are taken from my bedroom window through a fly screen window! The tops of houses you see are across the road from us!

All is well and no harm done - except to a few farm outhouses. But let me tell you I watched carefully to see which way the wind was blowing. My thoughts go out to those who have lost homes and are still under threat. Let the change come and bring some rain! There are fires everywhere!

OH! Yeah ... Happy Birthday Mum! You were to be my "photo of the day" but then.....

Oh my gosh Helen that was close!! I am so glad it didn't make it any further to your street. There were so many fires today it was very scary.... and the hottest day on record too! We went to the beach this afternoon and the sky looked so weird. Then the wind changed and started blowing even stronger than before so much so the sand blowing on your legs felt like pins pricking into you - not nice stuff. Lets home tomorrow's cool change brings some relief. Have a happy Sunday.

Oh my goodness Helen - so glad to hear you're all safe. Sending a rain dance your way and you're welcome to as much of our snow as you like.

I've been watching the fires in "southern Australia" on the news and wondering how close they are to you! This answers that question....too close!! Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers!! We certainly hope it doesn't get any closer than this!!!
Happy birthday to your Mum too!!!

helen, i've been thinking of you all weekend as i followed these disastrous stories on the news. living in florida, i've experienced the draughts and wildfires that go along with it but never to the extent that you are. just wanted to let you know that you're in my thoughts. ::doing the raindance for you::

Oh my, Helen, these pictures are just scary! I am glad that your house is safe and you haven't been hit by the fire yourself. I am thinking of your neighbours who lost their houses.
Having my fingers crossed that you stay safe.
(hugs)
