Slap what?

So Katie has seemingly been sick for the longest time.....ten days today. While we were away she developed this terrible red cheek...just one cheek only! Then the person we were away with says "it might be slap cheek/face". Slap what? When I googled it....well...low and behold...all the symptoms and patterns are hers:
" ..... it may be between 4 to 14 days after getting the virus before any symptoms begin; the first symptoms can include fever, headache, stomach upsets, aches and pains, sore throat, runny nose, coughing and sneezing. This is the time when the virus can be spread to others; a bright red rash appears on the cheeks 3 to 7 days later. The cheeks look like they have been slapped. Once the characteristic rash has appeared, the person is no longer contagious. This pink, lace-patterned rash tends to last for around one to three weeks ...."
So as my poor girl lies beside me here this Sunday afternoon snoring her head off and will, like every night this week, be asking to go to bed around 7pm, fingers crossed she starts to become her old self sooner rather than later. The photos here don't nearly pick up how bad her cheek got!

Also known as 5th disease. Why would I know that? Went through it in the spring with both boys.
I hope you didn't get it from us! And there's nothing to do except explain to people they can't get it now that the rash is present.
Hugh is next...sorry.

Awww! Sounds like fifth disease to me, or at least that's what they call it here. Poor little thing has been sick way too long! Hopefully she will be back to normal soon!
