The joys of routine and reading

Every week night straight after bath is time for Hugh to do his school reader. As always no Punch without Judy and munchkin is usually there as well. Last night, Hugh and I were done by the time Katie came down after her bath. Did not stop her though. Alone she got her reader and began the task. She even asks me what certain words are just like Hugh. What little sponges they are! And in case you are wondering - she is only just three and does not read .... well in her little world she thinks she does and this Mum is very happy to see the love of books my children have.

She loves to read... the goal of teaching reading. She's made the connection that the words are giving her a message as she finger points to the words. She may not be reading the correct words but she has the idea. She has mastered many 'concepts of print' as her book is right side up, she's moving left to right, 1:1 correlation with the words, etc. She has wonderful expression!

This is such an important stage in reading and you have been such a good model for your kids.
