Fairy bread and a cup cake!!

So the day started with a very eager big brother who wanted to go and wake his sister. That is because on the weekend he requested that he be able to buy Katie a gift. ..... needless to say, another Barbie to add to the collection! Surprise! Surprise! We name our Barbies after the "giver", otherwise we would truly get confused. So we happily welcomed "Hughley" into the Barbie house this morning. Katie was then asked what she would like for her birthday dinner. Hugh, knowing it could be ANYTHING, was quietly hoping for a trip to Vietnames or Eating House restaurant, McDonalds at the very least. His devastated face when the response from Katie was "fairy bread and a cup cake" was enough to make us all break out in laughter. Katie's day was spent a) reading on her new Barbie chairs whilst having a cuppa! (Truly a girl after my own heart) b) delighting in the new ballerina Barbie book sent by Texas Wendy (thanks Wen - great timing) and c) sitting on the kitchen bench (does not happen often) to make and eat her fairy bread! Might I add with the "my little pony" balloon courtesy of Dad wafting close by! As Hugh rightly pointed out "what were the rest of us to eat"!?!?! LOL!! A trip to get Hawaiian pizza for the boys and Vegetarian Singapore Noodles for Mum, soon resolved that. All in all a great third birthday one would say.

I'm sick I didn't get her fairy outfit in the mail to go with her fairy bread. I had decided to send it after the holidays when the gifts slowed down. But, now I know when her birthday is and I'll be a better Grammy next year (when is Hughie's day??)

This was a great post, Helen. I had to read the whole thing to Boyd, who went to Wikipedia and found "Fairy Bread". They have a great article about it for us Americans who are ignorant of those darling things. Fairy bread and a cupcake sound good to me!!
We called that 'sugar bread' when I was little eons ago.

Poor Hugh. I can just picture that sweet little face when his sister placed her birthday dinner order. I'm glad he got an Hawaiian Pizza (we love those too)!!

The Barbie chair and table are adorable. She looks sooooo cute and content sitting in that chair.

Don't forget to send your phone number so I can wish you a merry Christmas.
Love to all,
Grammy J.
